Our
Story

Get to Know Us

Healing Heads was created by 16 year old Haley Harris in 2016, after her father had a severe stroke. Fortunately, Haley's family had the means to pay for the therapy that her dad needed, but she saw other brain injury survivors who could not. She started Healing Heads to help families pay for needed therapy when insurance ran out.

Over time, the board saw the need to provide a community for stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors with aphasia. So, in 2025, we developed the Healing Heads Aphasia Center as a place where people with aphasia could come together for fun, friendship, laughter and learning. We currently meet at two locations, 2 hour meetings 2 times a week in two separate sites, but our goal is to one day have our own building and to provide programming 5 days a week with paid and volunteer staff.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enrich the lives of people with aphasia and their families within our community.

Our Approach

At the Healing Heads Aphasia Center, we focus on the power of social connection to foster communication and confidence and belonging.
